Avoiding Plastic Waste at Ti Kaye Resort
It’s tempting to think big when you want to become more eco-friendly and green. Recycling and composting programs, growing your own food, solar panels – these kinds of programs are hugely valuable – but don’t discount the little things, because they add up to make a massive difference!
We already know that 91% of plastics are not recycled, turning into tonnes of ocean debris and landfill waste worldwide, contributing to the 8.3 billion metric tonnes of waste created since plastic’s invention in the 1960s. But what can we do to make an impact on such a massive environmental problem?
We encourage guests to borrow bags to go shopping rather than using plastic bags, to ask not to have plastic straws for their beverages, and to carry reusable water bottles. These might seem like small things, but they add up to a much bigger plastic picture.
Throughout the entire resort we only use energy-efficient LED lighting, and we’re making the switch to environmentally-friendly products while avoiding corrosive chemicals and pesticides. It’s about re-thinking habits and making healthier decisions when you make purchases.
